About the role

As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the finance function. You will oversee all financial processes, systems and controls, ensuring compliance with Charity SORP, statutory requirements and best practice.

You will lead on budget setting, financial planning, forecasting and reporting, providing clear and insightful financial information to support decision-making across the organisation. You will also work closely with managers to help them effectively manage their budgets and understand financial performance.

In addition, you will play a key role in supporting organisational growth by contributing to business planning, funding opportunities, procurement exercises and tender submissions.

Key responsibilities include leading and developing the finance function, ensuring the delivery of an effective, efficient and customer-focused service. You will lead the annual budget-setting process, provide ongoing budget monitoring and reforecasting, and maintain robust financial controls, systems and procedures. You will also line manage, mentor and support finance team members, promoting continuous development and high performance.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced finance leader who can combine strategic thinking with strong operational finance expertise.

You will have a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) and significant experience in a senior finance management role. You will possess strong knowledge of Charity SORP and charity accounting principles.

You will have demonstrable experience of preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash flow reports, alongside experience of presenting financial information to senior leaders and trustees. You will also have advanced IT skills, including experience of financial management systems and Microsoft Excel.
